VARD strengthens its naval defense offering with new Business Unit leadership

Ålesund/Norway : VARD, a subsidiary of the Fincantieri Group; one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of specialized vessels, is pleased to announce that Roy Arne Stavik is appointed as SVP, Governmental Defense Program— to further reinforcing VARD’s focus on the naval segment.
Effective May 1, 2026, Roy Arne Stavik is appointed SVP, Governmental Defense Program, supporting VARD’s ambition to be a trusted, long-term partner to Norway’s defense sector.
In this role, Mr. Stavik will engage with key stakeholders to ensure VARD’s strategy to win the forthcoming defense programs is successfully executed.
To further strengthen the focus on the naval segment mainly in Norway, a dedicated Business Unit will be established focusing on the forthcoming opportunities, - especially the Norwegian standardized vessels program in Norway.

Ålesund 23. september 2026: VARD, en av verdens ledende designere og skipsbyggere av spesialfartøy og en del av Fincantierigruppen, er stolte av å kunngjøre en ny kontrakt med Taiwan-baserte Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) for design og bygging av et topp moderne Commissioning Service Operation-fartøy (CSOV). Fartøyet, som er utviklet fra VARD 4 39-designet, vil styrke DFOs offshorekapasitet innen vind-, energi- og kraftkabelmarkedene. Kontraktsverdien er mellom 66 og 75 millioner euro.

Norway/Ålesund, 23 September 2026 - VARD, one of the world’s leading designers and shipbuilders of specialized vessels and part of the Fincantieri Group, is proud to announce a new contract with Taiwan-based Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) for the design and construction of a state-of-the-art Commissioning Service Operation vessel. Developed from the VARD 4 39 design, the vessel will further strengthen DFO’s offshore capabilities across the wind, energy and power cable markets. The contract value is between EUR 66m and 75m.
